STS Arrival
Trans Misr Terminal (TMT) is excited to announce the arrival of four cutting-edge Ship-to-Shore (STS) cranes at our new terminal in Alexandria. Manufactured in China by Qingdao Haixi Heavy Machinery Company (HHMC), these state-of-the-art gantry cranes were transported aboard the heavy load carrier SEAWAY SWAN, completing a remarkable 15,000 nautical mile journey from Qingdao to Alexandria over two months.
Unparalleled Specifications
The new STS cranes boast impressive capabilities, with:
- Outreach: 63.00 meters, designed to service the largest vessels in the world.
- Lift Height: 54.00 meters over the crane rail, providing exceptional vertical reach.
- Capacity: Engineered to efficiently handle ships of up to 24,000 TEU.

These specifications make them the largest and most advanced cranes in the Alexandria port, positioning TMT as the premier destination for mainline container vessels in the region.
Driving Regional Competitiveness
The arrival of these STS cranes is a significant milestone in the development of TMT’s new terminal, which will:
- Cover an area of 57 hectares with over 2,500 meters of quay and 17.5 m depth.
- Have a design capacity of 1.50 million TEUs annually.
- Be optimized to accommodate and efficiently handle large mainline container vessels.
This investment reflects TMT’s vision of transforming Alexandria into a regional hub for containerized cargo. By attracting larger vessels and mainline services, TMT is contributing to Egypt’s competitiveness in global trade and strengthening its position as a key player in the Mediterranean logistics network.
